Dinner Explorations

We had no idea what we were ordering, I made random marks on the order sheet in what looked like a pretty format and hoped for the best.

I ending up ordering lettuce, some sort of cracker, long fried dough, and pig stomach

Alex took care of the the second intervention ordering round, having better luck finding a waiter who spoke a bit of english. We managed to order some more veggies, tofu and a chinese style Tahini sauce, which was actually our attempt at ordering chilly sauce

Stunning panorama of Nanjing Skyline

On the lower left is one of Nanjing's gates passing through the city's old wall, it was a cool last night and I think we can thank the big storm cloud on the horizon

This is the gate from the lower left hand part of the picture above, this one

3 Panoramas: McDonalds Metro NIS, Global Doctors & the Police Station

View of Nanjing International School from the new metro stop, notice the only 24 hour drive through McDonald's is right across the street from the school

Touring the Global Doctor's clinic

We're all waiting for our police clearance for living in China, notice everyone is doing their part keeping the little ones engaged in activities, the two in the foreground are playing Chimes on the iPad

So Many Apartments

The first task on arrival has been finding an apartment. Our basic criteria for our apartment search: something facing south east, radiant heat and a location close to the school. We're seeing quite a few places, here's a sampling of some of them.

China: Day 2: The Jet Lag fight

Our best technique in keeping awake, do everything and anything to keep the body active. That usually mean shopping even if we don't need. Our favorite target: IKEA

Quick shopping trip for some basics: tooth paste and laundry detergent

Massive bags of Tide, does Costco have this size?

Looks like a tennis racket but it's designed to kill mosquitos through electrocution

Walking the old Nanjing City Wall

This being the first morning in China, I'm primed up for discovery. I like taking in as much as I can within walking distance from the hotel. As we drove through the old city gates  yesterday, it provided the hints for today's walking destination. I had no idea I'd bump into the hustle and bustle of the city folk in their morning workout activities. I was surprised to find the Guozhong Hot Spring Club but sadden it wasn't open to the public :-(
